COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Local volunteers will hold a weekend food drive to support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank as food assistance need grows after SNAP cuts. Donations of nonperishable foods and paper products will be accepted on Saturday at Walmart locations in Waterloo and Cedar Falls and on Sunday at local churches—items will be delivered to the food bank on Monday. - ➤ Today, Target donated $10,000 to Tate’s Army Foundation in Cedar Falls to help teach families mower safety — a boost that will expand outreach efforts — as the group works to prevent accidents. The foundation was started after toddler Tate was injured by a lawn mower in 2018 — his family now uses the funds to educate others — and it aims to reduce future injuries. KWWL

- ➤ UNI is hosting the System of Support Conference on Nov. 21 at HCC’s Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center in Waterloo (inviting social workers, community service providers, health care professionals, and educators) to discuss change and community resilience. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday morning, Waterloo honored veterans with a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Hall where Maj. Gen. Evan Hultman and Brig. Gen. David Cole were celebrated, followed by an honor guard salute—Taps was played on the 4th Street Bridge and tribute monuments were unveiled at Soldiers and Sailors Park and Paramount Park. The Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum offered free entry to veterans and active-duty members as the first 125 guests received chili and a program with General Cole began at 1:30 p.m. KWWL
