The Salvation Army reopened its renovated kitchen in Waterloo Tuesday after a $700,000, 5 1/2-month makeover.

Hoover Middle School's music department is hosting a can drive Saturday where students will collect refundable glass, plastic, and aluminum beverage containers from vehicles (9-11 a.m.).

Water Works will flush water mains today along Dysart Road from Shaulis Road to East Orange Road and from Dysart Road to Applewood Drive.
Residents may see brief water interruptions during the process.
Waterloo Regional Airport held a simulated plane crash exercise on Wednesday to test EMS, fire, and hospital responses by using a bus as a plane replica (FAA required the triennial drill); the practice revealed recurring communication challenges among responders.
