  • Girl Scouts received a $17,500 donation from the Max and Helen Guernsey Charitable Foundation to support an all-girl program that builds leadership, life skills and self-confidence—over 2,300 girls in Waterloo will benefit from local council events and outdoor adventures.  KWWL

CULTURE NEWS

  • Iowa Irish Fest started in Waterloo and grew into the biggest Irish festival in the Midwest, with more than two dozen bands on seven stages and tens of thousands of visitors. It ran from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and runs today from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.—showing a strong celebration of Irish heritage.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

HEALTH NEWS

  • Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo earned national honors by receiving a 5-star rating from Medicare.gov + the CAHPS Honors Award from HEALTHCAREfirst, based on caregiver feedback. It remains the only organization in its 15-county service area to receive both recognitions.  KWWL
