  • Geno's Pizza closed its Crossroads Mall site today as it prepares to move downtown. The restaurant under new ownership will offer its familiar menu at the new location by February 2026.  KWWL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday, the Iowa National Guard announced that Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard from Marshalltown + Sgt. Edgar Brian Torrestovar from Grimes died in an enemy attack in Palmyra, Syria while three soldiers were wounded and Governor Kim Reynolds ordered flags flown half+staff until interment.  KWWL

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Waterloo City Council is reviewing a plan to sell the historic Battery Building for $1 so Battery Building LLC can begin a $6.5M renovation. The project will convert the building on West Fifth Street into 19 apartments, a café and a co-working space while addressing repairs for a dangerous wall.  KWWL
