COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Northeast Iowa Food Bank is asking Waterloo residents to help families that still need food after SNAP benefits resumed when the federal shutdown ended. The food bank serves 16 counties and saw a 51 percent increase in pantry visits in early November with about 10 percent of those being first-time visitors, and it is asking for donations, food drives or volunteer help. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Mitchel Fordyce (22) was named the new head coach of West High's baseball team by the Waterloo Community School District when the Schools Board approved his appointment on November 10. He will lead the team as Tom Ulses steps down and will build on his past experience as an assistant coach on the sophomore squad. KWWL
- ➤ Iowa City Liberty beat Waukee Northwest by a score of 31 to 15 + they will face West Des Moines Dowling next week at the 5A State Championship game. KWWL
- ➤ Regina beat Grundy Center 31–12 in a game that ended the Spartans’ 50-game win streak and sent the team to the 1A Title Game. The team said they worked hard in the off season—fighting well to earn the win. KWWL
