  • The Koats 4 Kids winter gear fundraiser has collected nearly 12,000 coats, 9,000 pairs of boots, 6,500 snow pants and thousands of winter accessories for Cedar Valley students, and organizers plan more collections soon.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Northern Iowa announced its Degree in 3 program that offers year-round classes and up to $5,600 in scholarships to help students earn an elementary education degree faster—applications are open for 25 to 30 students for fall 2026.  KCRG

  • Developers will unveil preliminary design concepts to reimagine Crossroads Mall from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, inviting local residents to view the plans.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cedar Falls beat Cedar Rapids Jefferson 41-0 on senior night using a 34-point second quarter; the team, now 7-2, secured a playoff-bound win.  KWWL
  • Cedar Rapids Washington beat Waterloo East 76-21 today to end the season and leave Waterloo East winless.  KWWL
  • The Hudson Pirates won a 21-14 playoff game over the Central Springs Panthers in the Class 1A State Playoffs as QB Tade Roberts threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Gunnarson with 7:04 left in the fourth quarter. Roberts ran for two early touchdowns and the Pirates defense forced a late fumble — key plays that helped secure the victory.  KWWL
  • Number 8 Don Bosco, with a 6—2 record, opened the 8 Man Playoffs with a 54—10 win over Collins—Maxwell, a team holding a 6—4 record. The Dons led 20—3 at halftime and outscored the Spartans 34—7 in the second half.  KWWL
