- ➤ At a banquet hosted by Iowans Supporting Israel, survivor Yoni Diller recalled seeing missiles and bullets during the Nova Music Festival attack on Oct. 7 and said the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and release of 20 hostages offered renewed hope to Iowa communities. Yaser Abudagga from Coralville noted the ceasefire is a first step toward ending conflict and improving rights for Palestinians—though he warned more work is needed for lasting peace. KCRG

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Over 20 years, the Dry Run Creek Watershed Improvement Project has installed rain gardens, rain barrels and permeable pavement to filter stormwater and boost water quality in Cedar Falls—Waterloo residents have also joined efforts with local officials to add conservation measures to their properties. - ➤ A Waterloo mother detained during an ICE check-in was freed along with her 15-year-old son hours after over 150 protesters gathered outside the Cedar Rapids ICE office — immigrant rights advocates said her release came after a two-hour detention. KWWL
- ➤ Waterloo Water Works will flush water mains Thursday from West Ridgeway Avenue to West San Marnan Drive and from Highway 63 to Ansborough Avenue — the operation aims to keep the water system working well. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
