- ➤ Bill Henninger, a retired law enforcement officer, joined the Cedar Valley Men’s Shed in Cedar Falls to beat retirement boredom and build strong bonds through volunteer work. UNI professor Melinda Heinz, who started the program, said the group meets weekly—giving men a set purpose and a chance to work on projects like trail cleanups and garden building. Globe Gazette
