HEALTH NEWS

  • Allen Hospital has begun construction on its third cardiac catheterization lab to expand capacity for minimally invasive procedures—this project will boost treatment options for heart patients.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
  • Fired bariatric surgeon Dr. Glascock is suing Waverly Health Center and CEO Jodi Geerts in Bremer County District Court, alleging that his termination followed his decision to stop a weight-loss surgery when an inexperienced assistant was assigned, which he said endangered patient safety. The lawsuit claims the hospital ignored his warnings—forcing him to leave immediately—and the facility has not yet responded to the suit.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

  • Residents in Waterloo’s Orange neighborhood raised concerns when Skogman Homes proposed to build about 70 homes on the site of the former Orange School and bus garage — community members are monitoring the plan closely.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

  • Grundy Center Spartans won their 45th straight game with a 21—12 victory over South Hardin, keeping a 6—0 record. The win extends their streak and shows a strong season so far.  KWWL
  • Hampton-Dumont beat Denver 32-14 at home—improving their season while Denver suffered a tough loss—.  KWWL
  • Waterloo West upset number 10 Dallas Center-Grimes 20-14—snapping a three game losing streak.  KWWL
  • The Hudson Pirates (3-3) upset #6 Union (5-1) 27-18 after jumping to a 14-0 lead on two touchdown passes by Tade Roberts to Owen Bell; the win marked Union's first loss of the season.  KWWL
