GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The government shutdown is causing worry in Cedar Valley as families using federal programs and food banks face possible food shortages. The Northeast Iowa Food Bank—supporting 127 partner agencies—warns that if the shutdown lasts, demand will rise while programs like TEFAP are on hold. KWWL
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ MercyOne Regency now accepts walk-ins as part of its plan to build a connected—resilient care system that lets patients receive specialty services closer to home. The change will help reduce travel time for care. Globe Gazette
- ➤ Black Hawk County Public Health launched a mobile clinic that offers free HIV and STI screenings and immunizations on a walk-in, first-come basis at its first event in the Northeast Iowa Food Bank parking lot in Waterloo.
