- ➤ Camping reopens today at Black Hawk County Park in Cedar Falls after crews did a quick fix on the campground road damaged by summer floods and storms — Conservation Director Mike Hendrickson said long-term repairs will follow to repair rotted culverts. - ➤ The Friends of the Waterloo Public Library Fund has joined the Waterloo Community Foundation as a new fund to support library facilities and programs, including summer events like Mess Fest and Lego Lab—marking a key milestone during the group's 50th anniversary. KWWL
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ District officials in Waterloo will unveil the new high school name, mascot and colors on October 8 at the Waterloo Convention Center when superintendent Jared Smith gives his State of the District speech after a half hour social. The new school, which will combine the East and West high schools, is under construction on the Central Middle School site and is expected to open in August 2028. KWWL
