- ➤ The Waterloo School Board is buying six new school buses to save about $400,000 over three years as they cut charter costs, and the buses priced between $113,000 and $137,000 each will serve athletics, field trips, and after-school activities while drivers are being hired and delivery is expected by year-end. - ➤ Waterloo councilman Dave Boesen announced he will run for mayor on Monday and said his long service qualifies him to lead the city. He served on the council for six years and worked with Fire Rescue and the police — his Restore Waterloo campaign will focus on fiscal responsibility, public safety, transparency, economic development and neighborhood revitalization.
