Waterloo Public Library announced events for the first week of August that will offer local residents a range of fun and educational activities.

Cedar Valley Hospice will hold a butterfly release remembrance event where community members can dedicate one or several butterflies as a tribute to someone special—this event offers a quiet way to honor cherished memories.

A shooting just before 3:00 a.m. on Sunday at 123 Mission Circle off East Fourth Street in north Waterloo injured two people—one of whom was hospitalized.

Waterloo woman LaDonna Henderson pleaded guilty on February 10th to eight counts of making false statements during firearm purchases and one count of possessing a firearm as an unlawful user of a controlled substance—she bought nine firearms for her felon boyfriend, who later trafficked some, and received a 37-month prison sentence with three years of supervised release while remaining free on bond until her surrender.
