Good morning, Waterloo.

The Waterloo Public Library announced a schedule of activities and events planned for the end of June — residents should look for more details as the date approaches.

Hundreds gathered at Sullivan Park in Waterloo to celebrate Juneteenth by watching performers, enjoying local food, and remembering when some enslaved African Americans learned of their freedom.

A federal judge in Iowa blocked key parts of a Biden administration rule that required a registered nurse to be on-site 24/7 and 3.48 hours of nursing care per resident daily, saying the mandate exceeded CMS authority—other provisions of the rule will remain in effect.

On Saturday, The River Arc in Waterloo hosted its second annual African French Community Health Resource Fair where several health organizations provided screenings and information to local residents.

Organizers hope the event grows with more groups joining future health initiatives (including expanded outreach efforts).
