  • Police say a man allegedly threatened a utility worker and later set a utility pole on fire at 616 Ash Street in Waterloo on Monday—he then barricaded himself in a residence and surrendered after several hours of Tactical Unit negotiations.  KWWL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lisa Remy, executive director of the School Administrators of Iowa, received the 2025 UNI Educational Leadership Legacy Award in Clive on June 11th and was praised for her strong work in education. She has worked with SAI since 2022 + her efforts have helped improve schools statewide.  KWWL
  • Hawkeye Community College has introduced a new Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Administration for working adults. The two-year program will begin classes on August 20 and offers flexible online, hybrid, or in-person options (teaching key skills such as finance, management, and marketing).  KWWL
