CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Today, downtown Waterloo hosts the Friday Loo music series—featuring band Never the Less, which performs hit songs from the 1980s. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a law that limits how pharmacy benefit managers work to protect local pharmacies and lower drug costs. The law requires drug contracts to use a pass-through pricing model and stops spread pricing while the state will monitor for any problems. Globe Gazette
- ➤ On Wednesday night a storm knocked over trees and powerlines in Waterloo and left 43 addresses without power by late Thursday morning. A lightning strike at the downtown Fire Rescue station knocked out phone service while firefighters responded to emergencies — no physical damage was found and service was restored. - ➤ The MATD Drill Team Competition will return to Young Arena on July 12th at 6 p.m.—11 drill teams from at least eight states will compete for $6,500 in prizes as over 500 youth performers take the stage. KWWL
- ➤ Waterloo Bucks and the Northwoods League Foundation awarded Sumner Parks and Rec its Share the Glove Equipment Grant to support youth baseball and softball across Northwoods League communities. The grant provides catcher’s gear, nine fielding gloves, six batting helmets, three bats, and a bucket of practice balls + the program serves 90-100 children in grades K-5 and will add a fall league for younger kids.
