- ➤ A semi driver was hurt when his trailer rolled onto its side and into the median of Highway 20 last night and he was taken to MercyOne Waterloo for non-life threatening treatment — the cause is still under investigation. KCRG

- ➤ The Waterloo Center for the Arts is hosting Chroma 63, a free metal and punk music festival set for Saturday from noon to 9:30 p.m. at RiverLoop Amphitheatre. Headliner Radkey — a punk band from Missouri that has toured with Jack White — leads 10 acts with skateboarding demos, live painting, art vendors, food trucks, and a free afterparty at 10 p.m. at The Loft. - ➤ Waterloo topped Iowa’s largest cities in water and sewer affordability based on the 2024 Water and Sewer Rate Survey with a residential rate of $49.36 for six CCF and the lowest commercial rate for 1,000 CCF — city officials credit efficient utility management and infrastructure upgrades for keeping rates low. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Allen College is set to expand its Simulation Lab in McElroy Hall with a $500,000 donation from Jim and Judy Fogdall—this $3 million project will add over 8,000 square feet including new classrooms, a nurses’ station, home health space, and debriefing rooms, with groundbreaking planned for fall and completion expected by 2027. - ➤ Iowa Health and Human Services reported a third case of measles in Iowa involving an unvaccinated child from Johnson County.
