- ➤ Waterloo fire crews responded to a fire at the apartment building at 5050 Texas St. around 1:40 p.m. and quickly put it out with no one taken to the hospital—officials are investigating the incident. KWWL
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Waterloo's new downtown parking system is in effect and some local business owners are worried that older customers must walk farther during bad weather. Carpenter's Diner owner Matthew Carpenter said the kiosk locations, chosen by a parking survey, may not suit retirees (local officials are reviewing the sites) and noted that a free parking hour is offered (officials are seeking solutions with Mayor Hart). - ➤ Malik's reopens at Highways 122 and US 65 after struggles with the city — following months of permit delays and disagreements. The owner said city officials reached a new agreement so the business can now serve customers. Globe Gazette
