- ➤ Cedar Bend Humane Society in Waterloo is urgently seeking foster volunteers for kitten season; the organization will supply needed items + veterinary care and demonstrate bottle feeding techniques for young kittens who require temporary homes. KWWL
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Entertainment for the 50th anniversary of the Sturgis Falls Celebration was announced and local organizers plan to feature local performers (and family-friendly acts) during the festivities. More details will follow as the event date approaches. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Northern Iowa is now enrolling students for its accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program that will launch in August. Prospective applicants should check the university website for details. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
- ➤ Hoover Middle School is holding its final can and bottle drive on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 630 Hillcrest Rd, where community members can drop off five-cent refundable containers to support student musicians. KWWL

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Beginning Monday, Donald Street between Sage and Raymond roads will be under construction for widening and resurfacing (8 weeks) as crews work to improve road conditions. Residents should plan alternative routes during the project. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Cedar Falls Girls won seven of 19 events to capture the MVC Valley Division Track and Field Championship in Cedar Falls, marking a strong performance at the meet. KWWL
- ➤ The UNI Panthers lost to Illinois State 7-6 in their elimination game at the MVC Tournament in Carbondale on Thursday night. Illinois State built an early lead and closed out the game after the Panthers pulled close late. KWWL
- ➤ Waterloo Bucks is hosting job fairs at Riverfront Stadium this weekend to fill roles such as camera operators, concessions workers, and ushers (applicants must be 16+ and cleaning crew open to those 14+). Fairs are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. KWWL
