- ➤ Grafton driver Kory Hackenmiller was hurt when his jeep hit a semi on I-380 near mile marker 50 at about 5:30 p.m. — he was taken to a Waterloo hospital and the truck driver was not hurt. KWWL
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Three teens are facing charges after a shooting in Waterloo as police report a youth spike in gun violence—guns are often taken from unlocked vehicles—while overall violent crime has decreased this spring. KWWL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A federal judge blocked Iowa’s House File 2677 — a law passed in 2024 that would have banned most vape products — ruling it conflicted with federal authority. The Iowa Department of Revenue did not comment on the decision while Attorney General Bird’s office defended the measure as a safeguard for children. Globe Gazette
