- ➤ A Waterloo man, John Bennet, is facing several charges after allegedly stealing an ATM, a construction lift, and a truck — Cedar Falls officers chased his vehicle on I-380 and ended the pursuit on Highway 218 north of Lone Tree Road. KWWL
- ➤ John Fitzgerald Bennett (55) of Waterloo, who served prison time for similar crimes, was arrested by Cedar Falls police after they chased him in a stolen vehicle (allegedly used to steal an ATM). Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Captain Brad Sherwood was honored nationally and locally this weekend as part of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg—Cedar Falls Mayor Danny Laudick read a proclamation to honor him along with other fallen first responders. Sherwood served nearly three decades with the Cedar Falls Fire Department after starting as a volunteer in 1997 and passed away last year from a heart attack following a 24 hour shift, with Fire Chief John Zolondek noting his exceptional dedication. - ➤ Katoski Drive will be closed for two months as crews begin removing and replacing a box culvert bridge on Monday. The full road closure is expected to impact local traffic until the project is complete. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
