  • A Cedar Falls company that makes THC infused waters and coolers won 8 national awards after updating its recipes to meet new state guidelines, though state law still prevents some products from being sold locally. Owners Corey Coleman and Taylor Fairman said they plan to expand into other states—Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, Arizona and New York—as new distributors have shown interest.  KCRG

  • A Waterloo man identified as 21-year-old Ashton Swanson allegedly led officers on a short chase that ended in a crash in Fayette County on Thursday at 4:41 p.m.—he suffered minor injuries and now faces multiple charges including eluding, reckless driving, and speeding infractions.  KCRG

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Eastern Iowa labor groups held Workers Memorial Day on Monday to honor the 45 workers who died on the job in 2024 with gatherings in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, and Iowa City. Rick Moyle, the Hawkeye Area Labor Council’s Executive Director, warned that state and federal cuts to programs like OSHA may lead to future safety issues—an impact that many fear will worsen.  KCRG
