CULTURE NEWS

  • The North Iowa Concert Band will present a free spring concert that features selections from some of Hollywood's most beloved films. The event is open to everyone and gives local audiences a chance to enjoy well-known movie music.  Globe Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Iowa lawmakers on the House Ways and Means Committee advanced bills on Wednesday that would exempt earned tips and overtime pay from state income taxes beginning next January for the 2026 tax year—moves aimed at helping service workers. Other proposals passed include sales tax exemptions for common items, a radon mitigation tax credit up to $1,000 retroactive to Jan. 1 for 2025 tax years and a Senate subcommittee backing a $15 million tourism fund to attract events.  Globe Gazette
