  • John Deere said Monday it is bringing back 21 workers to Dubuque Works and 20 to Davenport Works as demand rises for construction, forestry and drivetrain equipment. The company had also returned workers to Waterloo earlier this year to boost production after previous layoffs.  KCRG

CULTURE NEWS

  • RodCon (the mini comic convention) returns for its 11th year, featuring sci-fi, fantasy, and pop culture at the Rod Library at the University of Northern Iowa. The event will bring together local enthusiasts to enjoy creative costumes and unique artwork.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Local farmers have begun planting corn in Waterloo — a week of wet weather is expected to affect progress. The USDA Crop Progress and Condition Report will provide updates until November.  Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier

  • Royal Legacy Christian Academy in Waterloo now hosts exchange teachers from Spain as part of a three-year program with Iowa’s Department of Education and Spain’s Ministry of Education and Culture that addresses a shortage of qualified Spanish teachers and enriches students’ skills.  KCRG
