ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ First Student—a Waterloo-based school bus service—will close on June 30, affecting 120 workers; employees were notified on April 2 via Iowa WARN. The shutdown will take place later this year. KCRG
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Waterloo School District will switch to Durham Transportation after its contract with First Student ends June 30 because of a budget deficit. The change will affect 120 employees as Durham plans to offer retained workers positions for the 2026-27 school year. KWWL

- ➤ George Wyth State Park beach is closed this season due to construction and no confirmed concessionaire (other park facilities like the campground, picnic areas, and bike trails remain open). The park aims to resume beach operations in 2027. KWWL
