ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Early Wednesday morning, first responders arrived at the scene of a house explosion on Sager Avenue near Becker Elementary in Waterloo, leaving over 250 people without power and crews clearing the rubble (TV9 reported). KCRG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Iowa lawmakers advanced a bill that would require door locks and video surveillance in new or renovated school buildings to improve safety— a grant program will let districts apply for funding though funds are not guaranteed. Globe Gazette
- ➤ Today, the Iowa House passed House File 706 (which raises penalties for breaking open meetings and open records laws and requires public information accessibility training for most public officials) after the Davenport building collapse. The bill will take effect soon to make government meetings more open and clear. Globe Gazette
