- ➤ Teen Trust awarded $19,000 to nonprofit organizations in Black Hawk County; its panel (23 trustees and 5 student officers from local high schools) made the grant decision. Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier
- ➤ Cedar Bend Humane Society is covering adoption fees for pit bull-type dogs 6 months or older from today until March 22, thanks to a Leprechaun Sponsor, while cats and kittens will have a $25 fee. Families can submit applications and visit during regular adoption hours. KWWL
- ➤ Sergeant First Class Sean Rippey returned home March 7 from his Kuwait deployment to surprise his two children at La Porte City Elementary School—they left early to greet him after months apart. KWWL

- ➤ Waterloo city leaders reviewed an AECOM feasibility study that outlines a $40M plan for a new, multi-purpose stadium to replace the 80-year-old Riverfront Stadium which needs over $5M in repairs and sits in a floodplain (the study explores sites near Isle Casino Hotel, Crossroads Mall, and East High School). - ➤ Waterloo Regional Airport remains unaffected by the government shutdown, though unpaid TSA staff continue working at local checkpoints; Airport Director Steven Kjergaard advised travelers to show extra patience & understanding as the situation persists. KWWL
