- ➤ On Feb. 22, two teens rescued Kerri Nielsen and her three small dogs from a house fire after noticing flames at the back of her home; Nielsen now meets with the fire marshal to assess damage while she arranges temporary housing amid community support that raised ($1,500) on GoFundMe. KWWL

- ➤ The Iowa Board of Regents dismissed one complaint on videos of two UI employees discussing DEI work and ordered disciplinary procedures to begin. It also launched a phase two audit of UI, Iowa State, and UNI to check compliance with state laws — progress updates are expected. KCRG

- ➤ Gov. Kim Reynolds approved a 2% K–12 school funding increase today, marking the first law she signed this year (raising funds for public schools across Iowa). Globe Gazette
