The 39th annual Hawkeye Farm Show will take place next week at the UNI-Dome from March 3-5 and is expected to draw thousands for local agricultural displays and community activities.

On Feb. 22, two teens rescued Kerri Nielsen and her three small dogs from a house fire after noticing flames at the back of her home; Nielsen now meets with the fire marshal to assess damage while she arranges temporary housing amid community support that raised ($1,500) on GoFundMe.

The Iowa Board of Regents dismissed one complaint on videos of two UI employees discussing DEI work and ordered disciplinary procedures to begin.

Four Waterloo-area nurses have been named as part of the 2026 Great Iowa Nurses by UnityPoint Health, an annual honor for Iowa-licensed nurses who have made significant contributions to care.

Waterloo Warriors earned a 4-1 win over the Ames Cyclones on Thursday morning at Young Arena in the state tournament with two goals from assistant captain Logan Caldwell.
